Introduction

Set up Wandelbots NOVA

Your Wandelbots NOVA instance provides you with a multitude of options to manage cells, write robot programs and simulate physical cells. To benefit from all features, you need to include your Wandelbots NOVA instance within the robot cell and add robots in the Wandelbots NOVA settings.

Supported cell setups

Connecting physical robots and periphery with Wandelbots NOVA means to include Wandelbots NOVA into the physical robot environment.

This requires

  1. Learning which cell setups are supported by Wandelbots NOVA,
  2. Verifying that the cell components you're using are supported by Wandelbots NOVA,
  3. Understanding the cell architecture and how the different components are connected.

Connect physical robot

During the first part of the setup, you'll connect Wandelbots NOVA to your physical setup. In case you're using virtual robots only, skip "Connect physical robot" and continue with "Add robot in settings"

This includes

  1. Preparing the robot for the connection with Wandelbots NOVA.
  2. Physically connecting the IPC to the robot controller.
  3. Configuring the IPC to establish communication with the robot controller.

Add robot in settings

The second setup part covers adding the robot in the NOVA settings.

For virtual setups, e.g. when simulating, you can add a virtual robot in the Wandelbots NOVA settings. When working with Wandelbots NOVA in a physical robot cell, this step enables controlling and programming the robot with Wandelbots NOVA.

This includes

  1. Selecting your robot type.
  2. Choosing the manufacturer and model.
  3. For physical robots, entering the robot's IP address or host name.
  4. Configuring TCPs for virtual robots, viewing TCPs for physical robots.
